To make The HOPweek a big success, we are looking for you to help us out during the week!

The HOPweek: 19 – 23 August 2019

Would you like to be part of the official introduction week of Leiden University, Campus The Hague? Are you excited to meet lots of new people and have a fantastic week? Can you not wait to tell all the new students about your experiences in The Hague? Are you a very good bartender or are you a top chef? Do you prefer to be behind a camera or do you drive a van like a boss? Then we are looking for you to become a guide or a crew member!

Crew signups are now open! Click this button to become a crew member!

If you have any questions, you can contact Commissioner Volunteers Alice Whitting at volunteers@hop.leidenuniv.nl.

Every group of approximately fifteen students will have two guides. Together with a friend, you will be responsible for your own group during The HOP. You will be able to participate in all activities organized and you will ensure that everything runs smoothly and without any problems. As a guide, you can share your experiences as a student in The Hague and make sure that the new first years will have a great start of their student life! Of course it is not just a fun experience for the new students, but also for yourself. You will be able to make new friends and be part of a close group of guides! In addition, you are allowed to join all the activities and we will make sure that you as guide will have everything you need during the week. In order to prepare you for your role as guide, we will organize a guide-day. It is mandatory to participate in this training day.

Sign-ups for guides are now closed. I you wish to be put on the waiting list, please send an email to Commissioner Volunteers Alice Whitting.

For every activity, we are looking for crew members. They make sure that everything runs smoothly. As a crew member, your tasks will be very diverse. You can, for instance, help with the registration of the participants, but you can also work behind a bar. One of the biggest advantages of being a crew member is that you will not have to be available all five days. You can decide for yourself how many shifts you want to do and which activities you want to be part of. We will make sure that you are prepared as we will organize a mandatory Training Day right before the start of The HOPweek.  We are also looking for special crew members: night’s watch, people who can drive a van, and photographers for the mediacrew. As a crew member, you must do at least three shifts in order to get a Crew wristband, which will give you free entrance to the parties during The HOPweek.
